House-League End of Year Awards

1st Place Team Award - the team in 1st place at the end of regular play (before playoffs).

Division Player Awards (to end of regular season) are for

1.  Most Valuable Player
2.  Best Defensive Player

3.  Top goaltender in Pee Wee and above

Each team will also choose the Most Outstanding Player.

ESSO Team Player Awards 

Most Improved,

Most Sportsmanlike and

Most Dedicated players

Selection is made by the team coaching staff. Three different players are selected from each team

Best Defensive Player (goalie, or defence). The player is normally a senior player in each division. Each Head Coach submits a name to the convenor.

Most Valuable Player The player is normally a senior player in the division. Each Head Coach submits a name to the convenor.

 

DEBBIE STOCKWELL AWARD

This award is presented, annually, to the JLMHA Novice H/L player who best displays the "Love of Life" attitude exhibited by Debbie Stockwell, herself.

SELECTION: Awarded annually by the JLMHA Novice H/L convenor together with the Novice H/L coaches.

PRESENTATION: Presentation will be made on Championship Day at the end of the JLMHRA season. 

CRITERIA: Awarded to a second year Novice H/L player who exhibits all or most of the following characteristics (on and off the ice):

-Has a genuine love for the game of hockey (of life).
-Is a good winner as well as a good loser.
-Is a team player. 
-Encourages and praises his/ her team-mates. 
-Is a good sport. 
-Respects his/ her parents, coaches, referees and peers. 
-Has a sense of fair play. 
-Shows concern for others. 
-Shows modesty. 
-Has a cheerful disposition. 
-Doesn't complain, criticize or belittle others. 
-Is dependable.  

RICK NORQUAY AWARD

(for Midget Division, Referee administered)

The award will be presented, annually, to the Midget player chosen by peers and coaches, in memory of our JLMHA referee, Rick Norquay.  The skill of the player is not a deciding factor.  This award is geared more for sportsmanship than any other aspect of the game.  This was who Rick was, on and off the ice. 

SELECTION: Player is selected by his peers and coaches

PRESENTATION: Presentation will be made on Championship Day at the end of the JLMHA season by the referrees and a member of Rick's family.  

CRITERIA: Awarded to the Midget player who exhibits all or most of the following characteristics (on and off the ice):

-Must show a true passion for, and love of, the game of hockey and enjoy coming to the rink to be with friends and team mate
-Must be a good sport and show good sportsmanship at all times 
-Must respect his family, coaches, team mates, the JLMHA (and what it stands for), the referees and all officials
