GAME FORMAT/RULES
· U11 will be 4on4
· U13-U18 will be 3on3
· 1 official per game
· 2 periods, 10min each
· 1min warm-up
· Periods are run time. Clock will only stop if there is an injury
· Face offs – done at beginning of periods only
· Round Robin games can end in a tie
· Winner 2 points, tie 1 point each
· Goalies will switch teams each period, they are not assigned to any team but themselves.
· Penalties will be called/tallied during regular play
- At the end of 2nd period, the penalties will be tallied (timekeeper should have this ready as soon as 2nd period ends).
- If both teams have equal number of penalties, they wipe each other out.
- After penalties are wiped out and one team ends up still with more, the opposing team will be granted a “live” penalty shot(s). “Live” penalty shot involves the shooter starting at centre ice with puck. All other players will line up behind on blue line.
- Once official blows whistle the puck is live. The objective of a live penalty shot is to have opposing team try to take away the shot. Keeping in mind, if a penalty is called on this play, a non-live penalty shot will be automatically granted.
· Any intentional head contact, body checking, or fighting, you will be removed from the tournament and necessary disciplinary action will be handed out following the tournament.
· Offsides and icing will be called.
- If this occurs, the team that caused the offside or icing will immediately skate to centre ice and staying there until the other team gets possession of the puck.
· If/when the goalie freezes the puck, official will blow whistle and immediately the offensive team will skate to the blue line while defensive team regroups and skates out with puck. Keeping in mind, there is no stoppage in play.
· After your team scores, you must skate to centre ice while defensive team regroups and skates out.
· PASSING is very much encouraged, and we want to see teamwork. We have put in place that once over the blue line (as long as no offside), there has to be at least 1 pass of the puck before a shot on net can be taken.
· U15&U18 no slap shots, if one is taken, a penalty will be given.
